Clients always tell me that their favorite images of mine are where their pets are in the front, and they’re in the background, but out of focus. I think it’s safe to say we all feel a little self conscious about having our photo taken, and perhaps even more so when one is expecting.
To continue along with the reasons on why someone might want to consider hiring a pet photographer– pets are often our first kid, and they play such an important milestone in our lives. They teach us about love, patience, joy, and the responsibility of taking care of something other than ourselves. Having a session that captures the love and bond we share with them before that dynamic changes with the arrival of the new family member is a great way of capturing this time before it becomes a faded memory.
Sandy contacted me last September to have her pup, Cooper, photographed. She was pregnant with her first human child, and while she wanted to document this exciting time in her life, she didn’t necessarily want all the attention of a traditional maternity session. So what’s a better excuse than to do a photo session with her dog AND capture some cute pregnancy shots?! Sandy’s husband, Brad, was even a great sport and totally embraced the idea of the photoshoot. Showing off both his super sweet side to his wife with gentle forehead kisses, and then his goofy side by pulling out his Zoolander moves with Cooper!
